Planning From Start To End

How do you protect your exterior investment and your house once you’ve installed Inteplast’s durable wood-alternative siding? Read our installation basics so you’ll know how to properly seal, caulk, and flash seams, corners, windows, door and roof openings to prevent moisture intrusion or buildup.

    • Siding and Ground Contact

To protect your Inteplast Building Products Siding from moisture, maintain a 6” clearance from the ground. If the adjacent ground is stone, concrete, or soil, use mold and rot resistant Inteplast Building Products Trim Starter board and Dual Starter board to protect against moisture related issues. Also, make sure the starting strips are leveled on different wall elevations.

    • Siding Corners

Install Inteplast Building Products Trim Corner board, J Channel, and Inside Corner board to protect against moisture and to create a smart appearance. You can also create a blind miter cut for the same effect.

    • Siding Seams

Inteplast Building Products Siding comes with our exclusivelocking system., A specially designed system to make the installation process easy by securing the siding joints to aid in expansion and contraction of the siding.

    • Around Windows & Doors

Finish the siding edges with Inteplast Building Products Trim, Moulding, and Window Surround, and put quarter round or moulding along the tops of the wall panels and along the bottom to cover the ledger boards.

    • Siding At The Roof

Before installing the siding, use Inteplast Building Products Starter Strips and J-channels over the roof lines, and add Inteplast Building Products Fascia to cover and protect the ends of roof rafters.

SIDING Styles

When selecting siding styles, consider architectural details, the pitch of the roof, local climate, the orientation of the house, and your own tastes. The exterior of your house is where personal taste and curb appeal intersect. Inteplast Building Products offers two siding profiles for options in application and style.

    • Double 4

Inteplast Building Products Double 4” siding profile is 5/8” (15mm) thick and comes in length of 12’ and has a classic look, a popular preference in the New England region.

    • 7 Inch

Like the Double 4” profile, Inteplast Building Products 7” profile is 5/8” (15mm) thick and comes in lengths of 12’ and is widely used in the Mid-Atlantic region.
